Mr. Rakeem Styles “Godzele Divaviovandivo”, born September 30, 1990, in Savannah, Ga, passed away on June 16, 2025. He was the son of Derek Middleton and Regina Styles. Rakeem attended Chatham County Public Schools and graduated from Groves High School in which he also participated in JROTC.
Though his time here was far too short, his impact was immeasurable. Rakeem was the embodiment of joy and light. He had a laugh that could brighten the room and a spirit that pulled everyone in. He believed in living life to the fullest—loudly, proudly, and with love. Whether he was cracking jokes, dancing to his favorite songs, or simply sharing a quiet moment with loved ones, Rakeem brought warmth, humor, and unforgettable energy to everything he did. To his family, he was more than just a relative—he was a best friend, protector, and source of endless laughter. As a son, he was loving and loyal. As a brother, he was fierce and fun. And as an uncle, he was the cool one—the one who always showed up, showed out, and reminded us all not to take life too seriously.
Rakeem will be deeply missed, but we are grateful for every memory, every laugh, and every lesson he left behind. His spirit lives on in the love he gave, the joy he spread, and the family and friends who will carry him in their hearts forever. Rest well, Rakeem. Your light will never fade.
He was preceded in death by great grandparents Elizabeth and Thomas Palmer; siblings Jabari Middleton, and Lakeythia Hills; Aunt Alexandra Palmer-Reed; Uncle Emanuel Palmer; and Bruce Cannon.
He is survived by his mother Regina Styles (Keith Bryant); father Derek Middleton; siblings Regina Styles “Baby”, Jordan Pierce, Isabella Bryant, Antonio Wolfolk, Derek Middleton Jr., Cagney Heyward, Effie Middleton, Xavier Sams, Maria Middleton, Ja’nae Middleton, Taylor LaCount, Shadrick LaCount, and Ciera Mercer; grandmother Margine Palmer- Brown (Darrell); Aunts Julia Styles, Margine Palmer; Uncle James Styles; Nieces Raelynn, Riley; Nephews Jamari, Michael, Kameron, Jayce; A host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rakeem was the first friend that I had in my childhood who let me know that it was ok to be myself and be confident in who I was. We have shared so many memories and experiences together. Rakeem is apart of the reason that I am the man that I am today. I learned so many things from him and we shared so many laughs. The first person that never made me feel judged. The first person that I told everything to. Rakeem was a visionary and a dreamer. So much warmth and light surrounded him. Thinking of all the crazy and funny memories we have together gives me so much joy. My hope is that your family is able to look back on those loving memories and find peace in losing such a beautiful spirit so soon. Rakeem there will be no one like you ever again. Thank you for the friendship that you gave me. Thank you for all the things that we got to share. I am so very lucky to have know you in this lifetime. I will never forget you.
