Rhonda Gale Orr was born to the late Robert Lee Orr and Delores Burns Orr on September 22, 1958 in Savannah, Georgia. She departed this life on June 27, 2025. She was Robert and Delores first child. Most people called her Gale.
Gale attended the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools. She graduated from Tompkins High School. Gale was an exceptionally good student. She was equally exceptional on the basketball court. At Tompkins High School, Gale demonstrated her athletic process as one of the cityβs premier basketball players, averaging 18 points a game. Opponents feared her tenacity and athleticism. Her teammates consider her their leader who could carry the team to victory. She attended Shorter College in Rome, Georgia on a basketball scholarship.
Gale was a life-long resident of Savannah. For many years, she worked at the former Rib Hut, a barbecue restaurant owned by her late aunt Nelease Feggins. She also worked as a home-health aide. Gale was always full of life. She especially enjoyed having a good time with her many friends and family
members.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert D. Orr, and nephew, Orlance Wilson.
She is survived by her daughter, Katrina R. Orr (Monike), her son, Malcolm E. Orr Sr, two grandsons, Malcolm Jr. and Mekhi Orr, a bonus granddaughter, Nautica Sapp, a brother, Marion Orr (Ramona), two nieces, Cindy Pinckney and Willia Burton-Orr, two nephews, Robert Orr and Marion Orr (Keosha), and a host of great nieces and nephews, a special uncle who she affectionately called Rudy, a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
