Richard was born and raised in Savannah GA, he is survived by both his parents, Patricia Hanson of Savannah, Vance Hanson of Pembroke Ga, as well as his stepfather Doug Siegel of Savannah. Richard has 2 daughters, Kayla and Valyrie Hanson and one granddaughter Ariana Hanson, as well as a prior life partner and mother to his oldest daughter, Diana Rose. He is also survived by 3 siblings, Marrisa Sloan, Jessica Akers, and Vanessa Hanson, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Richard was a talented musician with a heart of gold. Though he struggled in his adult life, in his younger years Richard was the life and light of every room he walked in to. He played football, baseball, and almost any sport he could! He kept smiling no matter what, and his favorite thing to do to as a child was to make his mom laugh until she snorted. Richard also loved to fish, play his guitar, and he loved his daughters and granddaughter more than life itself. He never met a stranger and was loved by all. Until we see you again Richard, rest in the peace you have finally found.

I was so very sorry to hear that Richard passed, and offer my heartfelt sympathy to the family. I lived with Richard and Diana when Kayla was growing up and we always seemed to butt heads over things, but no matter what we always ended up laughing. I’ll never forget the time I bought a fake “joke” scratch off and mixed it in with a couple real ones to make sure Richard saw the “winner” he was so ecstatic, until he read the back, and later said, I can’t even be mad, you got me so good! That’s how he was so easy going and carefree! RIP Brother!

Thank you Leah!! Definitely sounds like my brother, and I love any kind of story that makes me think of him laughing and giving someone crap! Lol…I’m sure he’s in heaven with my grandma Janice right now making her laugh too, those two back together again makes me heart happy!

To The Family,
Please Accept My Heartfelt Condolences. Truly the loss of a precious loved one is most difficult. Please find comfort in the promise our most loving Heavenly Father Jehovah God gives us in Revelation 21:4″And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more; neither will mourning; nor outcry; nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Yes, We can look forward to a time soon to come when all suffering including death will be done away with forever. Jess

To the family of Richard… I am a long time friend all the way back from Hesse Elementary Crest Hill neighborhood. We all grew up together. I had the opportunity to watch Kayla Bug grow into the butterfly she is today. I thank God for the opportunity to have been apart of this beautiful soul. Richard was definitely down to earth and had the biggest heart. He will forever live in our hearts. Peace Be with everyone as the good Lord gives comfort in your hearts… God Bless

I just found out about Richard’s passing. Sorry to hear this. The better part of my teenage years were spent with Richard. Fishing everyday, to riding Ms Patty’s caddy one day thru pooler listening to smooth jazz. His idea. He was a good guy, a great dad and an even better friend. I’ll miss you homie! – Pug
