Robert David Stepp

Robert David Stepp age 73 of Port Wentworth, GA formerly of Clinton, TN left his earthly home and joined his heavenly father February 23, 2021.

Born in Knoxville, TN on December 22nd, 1947 and raised on the side of a mountain in Lake City, TN. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1966 where he was a star football player and a member of the marching band. He had a love of music and performed and toured the US and Canada with several country rock bands. He loved the east Tennessee mountains and lakes and grew up camping, fishing, and boating. He was a member of the armed forces and served his country in the Army National Guard.  He was a devout Christian and served as a Deacon at Tokyo Baptist Church in Tokyo, Japan. He was a scheduler planner for AT&T and Lucent Technologies and traveled around the US and the world.

He was a devoted husband to his wife of 42 years, Sandy, and a devoted and loving father to his daughter, Tonya, and his granddaughter and “blue eyed wonder” Cyrus. He cherished time with his family singing, playing music, and having family dinners. He was always kind and showed love and compassion to anyone he met. He fought the battle of life with love, grace, and courage and was a blessing to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert “Bob” Stepp and Helen Smith Stepp of Claxton, TN. He leaves behind his wife Sandra Carver Stepp of Port Wentworth, GA. Daughter Tonya Stepp and partner Siamak Bayki and granddaughter Cyrus Layla Bayki of Port Wentworth, GA. Brother and sister in law Mark and Paulette Stepp and nephew Robert Austin Stepp of Maryville, TN. Brother and sister in law Randy and Geraldine Carver of Knoxville, TN. Brother in law Richard Carver of Knoxville, TN. Daughters of the heart Leinna Slone. Sabrina Slone, and Brittnay Stout of Clinton, TN and Allison Hope Taylor of Claxton, TN. Grandson of the heart Braylon Taylor of Claxton, TN. As well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of lifelong friends that were always in his heart.

He will truly and greatly be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

A memorial is planned for a later date in his Tennessee home and will be announced.
