It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert W Green Jr, who passed away on October 18, 2025, at St Joseph’s hospital in Savannah, Ga. Bob and his wife Deborah resided in Newport News, Virginia for 30 years prior to moving south to Ga.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. Born on May 23, 1949 in Salina, KS. Bob was a graduate of Vacaville High School in Vacaville, Ca. After high school he graduated from the machinist apprenticeship program at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, Ca. He also attended Solano Community College and BYU. Bob was honorably discharged from the Navy as an electronic Technician 1 st class after 7 ½ years of traveling the world on land and sea. He then worked in the computer field in England, Germany, California, and Virginia. Through the years, he served in various positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Throughout his life, Bob had a passion for computers, engines, Disney, and tearing things apart to put them back together again (although sometimes he had parts leftover!). But most of all, he loved his puns, funny t-shirts and his “Dad jokes”! He played the trumpet in the Vacaville High School marching band and in the Salvation Army in Vallejo, Ca.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert W and Mary L Green; his brother Larry Green and his sister Kathy Fountinelle; and his daughter Melissa L Green.

A service with full Navy honors will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1200 King George Blvd, Savannah, Ga on October 29th at 6pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Humanitarian Aid Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
