Susan Mills Justice peacefully passed away on July 22, 2023 after a 40-year battle with early onset Parkinson’s disease.
Susan was born on March 5th , 1949 along with her twin brother, Tommy. The argument still goes on as to who was actually born first. She had 3 other brothers, Rob, Steve, and Chris and she has all the scars to prove she was the only girl of the family. Her parents, Don and Virginia, passed down many qualities to Susan
that she used until her death.
She could cook the best chicken and dumplings and chocolate pie, could sew anything, make any craft, and was always up for a great party. Her father taught her to be determined and stubborn which served her
well in the end.
Susan was an educator for over 35 years and touched thousands of lives. She taught every grade except kindergarten
but would always say 5th grade was her favorite. As she ended her career, she was one of the very first technology teachers in Bryan County. Her family thought this was humorous because she really wasn’t that great with a computer.
She loved a good sweet, to host a fabulous party, beautiful flowers but NO carnations, and had a wicked sense of humor. She was extremely proud of all the famous people she met growing up in Chapel Hill, NC. Kate Taylor, sister of James Taylor (Carolina on my Mind) was one of Susan’s best friends. She claimed he played the guitar in her living room. Francis Collins (director of NIH) allowed Susan to babysit his daughter. Susan said the daughter was probably smarter than her.
She is survived by her daughter Amy and her husband, Hank Perry, her only grandson Mills, and her former husband, George Justice.
The family would like to thank her caregivers who showed her tremendous love and care, Anna, Linda, Helen, Zen, and
Vernita.
If you would like to honor her, you can make a donation to PACK 4 Mall Terrace Savannah, GA 31406.
She asked for no flowers because you might just send carnations.

I just heard of Susan’s passing today. I am so sorry for your loss.
I worked with Susan at Richmond Hill Elementary school many years ago. She had my youngest son Nathan as a student. We both loved her so much. I think she was probably one of his favorite teachers. She was so good with him, always encouraging, never letting him get away with anything but his best. They shared the same sense of humor. The world lost a bright light with her passing.
