Vivian Louise Fleming

Vivian Louise Fleming, age 74, of Savannah,  passed away Friday, August 16th, at Hospice Savannah .

Born in West Point, Georgia to Albert Fleming and Onediea Estelle Robinson Fleming, Vivian lived in Queens, New York, Des Moines, Iowa, and Savannah, Georgia. Receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from New York University, she worked in Human Resources with Goodwill for 10 years and retired after 22 years with the American Cancer Society. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the National Human Resources Association (NHRA.)
Ms. Fleming participated in sit-ins during the long struggle for Civil Rights, was in the Harlem Girls Choir and did a lot of inner-city work, taught literary programs in Savannah, was one of the founders of the Savannah Childrens Community Choir, and was an actress/singer in many community productions.
Preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson, Antonio Cutter, Jr., she is survived by a daughter, Joslyn Fleming; son-in-law, Raymond Turner; sister and brother-in-law, Aleatha and Joseph Turner; grandchildren, Raven Cutter (Antonio), Brook Ali (Charles), LeAnn Fleming, Albert Fleming, Garry Bragg, & Ayanna Ali; 11 great-grandchildren; and best friend, Rosemary Miles.
 
Visitation: Saturday, 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. at Families First Funeral Care. Funeral Services will follow at 1:30 P.M. Interment: Magnolia Memorial Park.

It’s just me again grandma. Let’s see so much as changed. As you know I beat stage 4 stomach cancer, then finished my associate degree and now almost finished with my bachelors degree then on ward to my masters. I brought my 1st house. I did it all by myself. I think you would be do proud of me. I love and miss you so much. Words cant explain. My whole heart aches and soul cries for you. Good or Bad you are the best grandma anyone could have ever had.

It’s been a long while. You’ve never been far away from my thoughts though. I miss you so much. Rudy and I got married, I’m working on my dissertation, and I love my job. I miss you like crazy though. I wish I could hear your voice just once more. Grandma you meant everything to me and I truly hope you’re proud of me.
