Anne Peeler West

Posted By Families Firstcare On February 5, 2024 @ 10:36 am In Obituaries | 2 Comments

Anne Peeler West, 84, of Savannah & Tybee Island, Georgia lost her battle with cancer on January 31, 2024.

Born the second of three daughters in Salisbury, North Carolina to Christine Hudson and Gregory Peeler (both deceased), Anne moved to Atlanta, Georgia in the early 80’s to pursue a career in the wholesale/retail china, crystal & home/housewares industries.  Always a visionary, it wasn’t long before Anne opened Storage Plus, Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia and Coral Gables/Miami, Florida which were among the very first Storage & Organization retailers in the United States.  The business quickly expanded to include two distributer/wholesale operations representing Schulte shelving and ELFA Swedish storage systems.

After 13 years, Anne decided to retire to Savannah & Tybee Island, Georgia to pursue her artistic, community service and philanthropic interests, which encompasses art, music and animal rescue, to name a few.

Anne is survived by her sister, Gregory Peeler Filer; her three cherished sons: Jay, Greg and Brad West; daughters in-law Lisa and LeLonna West; her adored grandchildren: Alex, Nicholas, Nathan, Avery, Schyler, Spencer, Davis, Noelle, as well as her long-time faithful/spoiled canine companion, Marley.

A Celebration of Life service for family & friends is being planned for April 6th in Anne’s beloved garden on Tybee Island, Georgia. Instructions for the celebration of life are below.

In lieu of cards & flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Anne’s memory to: the Savannah Music Festival (https://www.savannahmusicfestival.org [1]); SCAD (https://scad.edu [2]) ; the Greater Savannah Humane Society (https://www.humanesocietysav.org [3]) or your favorite charity of choice.

Anne’s family writes:

“Our celebration of Anne’s life has been planned for April 6th at 2:00. We
are planning to be in her beloved garden at the beach, and with any luck,
the weather will cooperate. If the weather is “ify” we may end up huddled
inside. If the weather is clearly going to be horrible, we may move our
celebration to the Tybee Post Theater. So, if you show up at Anne’s house
and no one seems to be there, you can use GPS to go around the corner to the
Tybee Post Theater.  We are not 100% sure about the parking situation yet in
the neighborhood, but we are hopeful that the full cooperation of our HOA
and a few of the adjacent neighbors will allow for a “private event status”
that can support the number of cars that may arrive to the Tybee Police’s
satisfaction.  You may want to carpool just to help that situation.

In cooperation with Anne’s specific request, DO NOT WEAR BLACK! Anne was one
of the most colorful people in the world, and she wants us to always
remember her that way.

Those of you who have tried using GPS on your way to Anne’s beach house at 5
North Shore Drive, will know that Google will send you on a wild goose chase
to the wrong part of the island. We have included specific directions below
and we look forward to seeing all of you.

Follow GPS to Tybee Island. Go Left at the 1st traffic light on the island
onto N Campbell Ave. Go left at dead end onto Van Horn Ave. Stay on Van Horn
past the police station. Turn right at the tennis court on the right. Enter
the 2nd gate on the left which should be raised that day for easy access.”

Love,
The West Family

Condolences for the family of “Anne Peeler West”

Condolence from Larry Pike on February 18th, 2024 1:29 pm

Anne was a wonderful close neighbor at Tybee for 30 years; one couldn’t have asked for a better one. She is already missed, and will continue to be. Rest well, Anne.

Condolence from Steven & Rick on April 3rd, 2024 8:53 am

Anne was only one of two very long term clients that when we parted we exchanged “Love You” every time. An admirer of colorful flowers – but never red – we enjoyed working to keep her spaces in full color. Anne will always have a place in our hearts and memories. “Love you” as always, Anne.
