Our dear friend, Christina Zaporowicz Veljius, 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023.

Christina was born on December 28, 1947, in the New York blizzard of 47’, to Polish immigrants Anthony
and Victoria Zaporowicz, who both possessed very strong work ethics and instilled these in her likewise. Christina found prosperity and fulfillment by devoting her entire life to the servitude of others. She put thousands of volunteer hours into the U.S. Army, from which her husband retired. When they made Savannah their home, she volunteered at St Joseph’s Hospital until being diagnosed with dementia. To her closest friends she was known as “Twinkie.” She adored spending time with them and her dog Max.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and her beloved husband Tony Veljius.

We would like to thank The Oaks of Savannah, Sunabella Memory Care, and SunCare Hospice for taking
such good care of our beloved “Twinkie”.

A private graveside service will be held.
