Our father Gemmo Latonio Monroid of Savannah Georgia left this world on October 31st, 2023, at the age of 70. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sonia Mostales Monroid.
His children; Gemson Paul and his wife Norina Monroid (Philippines), Sharon and Zenon Valle (Philippines), Gretzen and her husband Noel Mendoza (Philippines), Vannity Monroid and husband Mauricio Andres Aguirre (New York, New York), Luigi Gems and his wife Cindy Monroid (Savannah, Georgia), and Glenda Mostales Monroid (Savannah, Georgia). And many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In the Philippines, Gemmo worked at the Menzi Paper Company in Talakag, Mindanao, where he met his beloved wife, Sonia. He later worked as an airport cargo handler for several years at the Mactan Airport, now called the Mactan-Cebu International Airport.
He immigrated to the United States in the late 1980s and was employed in various occupations until he earned his Commercial Driving License in the 2000s. He drove long haul trucks through all of the 48 contiguous United States and Canada until he retired in 2019.
We would love you to come and honor his life on Monday, November 6th, 2023 at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Visitation is at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Catholic Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.
The funeral services are entrusted to Families First Funeral Care.
