Jason Randall Lewis, 45 of Savannah, GA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 13th, 2022, when he joined his father, Kenneth and all the loved ones who passed before him. Born on March 3rd, 1977 in Savannah, GA, to Elizabeth(Beth) Tomlinson Lewis and the late Kenneth(Kenny) Lewis. Jason was always a very lively and happy child. Jason started school at age 3, where he attended Charles Herty elementary. He also attended Gadsden, Pulaski and Juliette Low elementary schools.

When he was 9, Jason moved to Northfield, Vermont, with his mother, where they spent six years enjoying the cold and snowy climate. Although he made many wonderful friends, we a was never happy about the colder, snowy weather and returned to Savannah in 1993. Upon his return, he attended Windsor Forest High School, where he graduated in 1998. Jason loved Windsor Forest and was proud to be a Knight and enjoyed spending time with the many wonderful friends he made there.

In October 2000, Jason was employed by Coastal Center for Developmental Services(Employability), where he worked for Gulfstream Aerospace for over 18 years, making many lifelong friends he always referred to as “family”. Jason found “family” wherever he went and deeply cherished all those relationships. This was especially true with all the leaders, teachers, coaches and friends he made at the City of Savannah Therapeutics Recreation Division. Jason cherished every minute he spent there, attending all the seasonal activities, the Special Olympics meets around the state – he really loved Basketball Skills and Bowling – and last but not least the yearly Christmas celebration was an especially loved event. The highlight of every Saturday for many years was meeting with The Wild Ones bowling league and being part of the team.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth(Kenny) Randall Lewis, maternal grandparents Eleanor Nash Graham and Herbert Tomlinson, and paternal grandparents, Pompey and Sarah Tootle Lewis.
Jason is survived by his loving and devoted mother, Elizabeth(Beth) Tomlinson Lewis. He is also survived by his loving aunts and uncles, Ronnie and Linda Lewis, Robert and Suzanne Ward, Danny Lewis and Frank Ramsey, Terri and Randy Coleman and Miranda Marchant. Jason is survived by many cousins who loved him dearly, including Ashley Ward and her children, Robbie Ward and his children, Shawn Sill and her children and Heath Gall and her children. Jason is also survived by his brother from another mother, Terance Stokes and his mother Erica Stokes.

For everyone that touched Jason’s life and in turn my life, please know how important each of you have been to us, how very much you are loved and that you will always be in my heart for the love, goodness, happiness and acceptance you all brought to Jason’s life.

A memorial service and Celebration of Life for Jason and his father, Kenneth(Kenny) Lewis, will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00am at Asbury Memorial Church, 1008 East Henry St, Savannah, GA 31401. After the service we will share food and memories of both Lewis men and invite all friends and family to join in the fellowship. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Asbury Memorial Church or your favorite animal rescue.

Condolence from Laureen Megan & Ken Hinman on October 21st, 2022 9:18 am

Dear Beth,
Mark Nathan messaged us that he had seen Jason’s obituary in the paper. I’m so sorry to hear this news! We remember him as such a fun kid who loved animals and was an avid wrestling fan. We can picture his smile all these years later. We were just in Savannah but didn’t know how to get in touch with you. We’d love to re-connect. Again, we’re so sorry for your loss. We will make donation to an animal rescue in his name.
Love,
Laureen and Ken

Jason was a sweet and kind soul. Ken started bringing him to our ‘Wild Ones’ bowling on Saturday afternoons years ago. We always enjoyed having both of them and they were always a hoot ribbing each other. We tried reaching out after Covid, as I had learned that Ken has passed away, but all of the phone numbers I had from years ago were no longer valid. I know the two of them are enjoying each other in Heaven.

Dear Beth,
I was sad to learn of Jason’s death. He was a kind person who looked for the best in people. I will never forget going to the Savannah Mall with you and Jason to visit Santa. He was so excited. I made a contribution to Asbury in his name.
