Posted By Aubrey King On March 26, 2024 @ 2:37 pm In Obituaries | 14 Comments

Mary Lyn Franks (Quigley) age 75, passed away, suddenly on March 15, 2024, in Savannah, GA.  Born the eldest of five children on January 14, 1949, in Paterson, NJ.  Lyn lived each day with a life marked by joy, creativity, beauty, a larger than life presence, and most of all love for her family and friends.

Lyn leaves behind her loving family; daughters Jamie Pear and Jessica Franks; grandchildren Samantha Pear, Tyler Pear, and Lexi Harris; son-in-law Lorin Harris; sisters Margaret Thoma and Maureen Quigley; brother Kevin Quigley; and her devoted boyfriend, John Resler.  She is also remembered and loved by cousins, friends, nieces and nephews who shared in her life’s journey, including best friends Diane, Denise, and Carla.  Lyn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles “Puck” Quigley and Myrtle Quigley, her brother Charlie Quigley, son-in-law Jonathan Pear, and dear friends Marjorie and Candi.

A proud graduate of Wayne Valley High School class of 1966, Lyn’s professional life included a significant tenure with the office of acclaimed architect Kevin Roche, where her contributions were both valued and celebrated. She also wrote an advice column for the publication Office Hours titled “Ask Lynzee”. Beyond her professional achievements, Lyn was a true artist, bringing beauty and insight to the world around her.  She had an eye for all things fashion, interior design, and art.  Not only will we remember her professional and artistic contributions, but her daughters, grandchildren, siblings, and friends will continue to live with just an ounce of her tenacity and zest for life.  Lyn is a 25+ year breast cancer survivor, where she inspired those around her and shared the importance of perseverance.  In addition to sharing her strength, Lyn brought warmth, humor, and love to her friends and family. She sang and danced with her granddaughters, cooked with her siblings, and created a club with her grammar school best friends where they traveled the US as “doctors” meeting at their “conferences” filled with laughs and unforgettable memories.

A remembrance service to celebrate Lyn’s life will be held on Hilton Head Island, SC for her local family there and in Connecticut during the summer where we can honor her love of sunshine and the beach. Those who knew Lyn are invited to join in honoring her memory – details to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Lyn’s memory to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org [1]

Condolences for the family of “Mary Lyn Franks”

Condolence from Francine Demagistris on March 26th, 2024 7:13 pm

I miss my friend and former neighbor from Guilford, CT, sharing our trials and tribulations together, having our daughter’s growing up and playing together and eating your famous tater tot recipe. I miss playing Words with Friends on Facebook, who won every single game. I am very saddened by not being able to text you anymore. Just one more thing, I was having some pain in my foot one day and you came with me to the foot Dr. I was explaining to him the problem I was having, and all he was doing at that time, was flirting and couldn’t take his eyes off of your attractiveness and beauty instead of looking at my foot.

Lyn was a special one of a kind. My first disco in the 70’s was with Lyn, Maureen and maybe Adrienne. She always such incredible style and beauty. I remember going with Myrt and Maureen to visit in Vermont just after Jamie was born. I love the Quigley’s, you have my sincere condolences.

Condolence from Adrienne Merkin on April 5th, 2024 8:25 pm

Lyn always made me feel a part of the Quigley family. Even though I haven’t seen her in years, I can still hear her laughter clearly! I always loved her great energy and warm spirit. And yes, she took me to my first disco too! Even borrowed her dress for the junior prom. So sad she is not with us anymore. Love the family, my sincere condolences.

Condolence from JIM and JUDY OWENS on April 6th, 2024 12:26 pm

We can’t tell you how heartbroken we were to hear about Lyn’s passing. It’s so sad!
Lyn was such a wonderful person. She was my personal administrative assistant for close to 25 years at Roche Dinkeloo and such a joy to work with. She was a dear friend and colleague and her contribution to the firm helped to make it the success that it was.
Over the years she became part of our family and us a part of hers. She was a real survivor – not only from cancer but so many other trials and tribulations.
It was a distinct pleasure knowing her and working with her and she will be greatly missed by us and all who knew her.
We pray for comfort for her family and friends at this difficult time and hope that time will help to ease the pain and loneliness of their loss.
