Michael E. Taylor, 71 a long time resident of Wilmington Island, GA, passed away on November 6, 2023 at his home. Michael was born June 7, 1952, in Chicago, the son of the late Henry and Julia (nee Jackson) Taylor. Raised in Des Plaines, IL, and attended Maine West High School where he met his wife, Laura (nee Moellenkamp) Taylor. They made a home in Des Plaines where they raised their son Jason Taylor. During this time, he was Cub Master of the Year for Pack 14 where he helped grow the Cub Scout Troop to the largest in Illinois. He and his family moved to Brunswick, GA in 1990, where he opened a service station. He had a passion for music and playing the drums, enjoyed the company of family and friends, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle and attending Bike Week, as well as watching Nascar, football, baseball, and golf. Michael retired from International Paper, Savannah, GA in 2017. Michael is survived by his wife, Laura Taylor, and son, Jason Taylor; as well as his sisters Pamela Taylor-Herdzina and Cynthia Klein, his Aunt Helen (nee Taylor) Schultz, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Deborah Taylor.

So sad to hear of Michael’s passing. We had so many good times at Jekyll Island when we had family reunions in the summer when we were growing up. He was a lot of fun. You will be missed, Michael. Rest in peace, cousin. ❤️
On this sad occasion,I send my condolences to his nuclear family as we all mourn his passing. I’ve always had a special place in my heart for Michael, and I’m grateful I had the chance to spend some time with him a couple of years ago. As a believer,I have faith he is now in a better place.
