Robert B. Dowse, 91, of Savannah, GA., passed away on October 31, 2023.

Born June 24, 1932 in Flushing, New York.

After high school he joined the United States Marine Corps. Later he was employed by Grumman in Bethpage New York. In 1967 he moved the family to Savannah and was one of the pioneers to open the aircraft facility. He started as an operations manager of light a/c and worked his way through different organizations of the company where he retired after 41 years as Director of Materials.

Many fondly remember the rivalry of the Gulfstream bowling matches. In order to qualify to be a “Megaton” there was a 250 pound weight minimum. Not to mention the famous “Pissant” cheerleaders.

After retirement dad enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. He and mom enjoyed their grandchildren and supporting all their activities.

He and mom celebrated 61 years of marriage. They traveled the world going on many trips living life to the fullest. I know there was a joyous celebration in Heaven when he and mom were reunited. He is dearly loved and missed and will live in our hearts forever.

He was preceded in death by his father Edwin Dowse, mother Beatrice Dowse, wife Ursula Dowse, and brother Edwin Dowse.

He is survived by his children Robert Dowse (Angie) Karen Blough (Dan) and sister Janet Winterson. Grandchildren Cheryl Davis, Daniel Blough, Stephanie Wilson, and Robert Dowse. Great grandchildren Jillian and Jacob Blough, Elizabeth Teixeira, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held November 11, 2023 1:00 PM at:

Hillcrest Abby West Memorial Park
1336 Dean Forest Rd
Savannah, GA 31405
