Condolence from Tony Monastra on April 6th, 2020 7:33 pm

Todd, Thank you so much for the phone call today and may your father’s memory be eternal. I worked on the same shift at the Parma Police Department with your Dad and I was a brand new officer and was with your Dad and we made my first arrest at the Side Door Lounge and Brookpark and Hauerman. Their was a male outside of the bar with a drink in his hand and we arrested him for having a drink outside of the bar. I think this was about the first week I was on the road after coming back from school. I will always respect your father , may he rest in peace.

Condolence from John Zaccardelli on April 7th, 2020 8:44 pm

Shocked to hear that Yogi has passed away. Ron and I go back to January 7th, 1964, when along with Gene Mikel (who incidentally, is himself in a nursing home), we were all sworn in on the Parma Police Department. For the time he was there he was one of my closest friends. We spent a lot of time together on the job and also at various houses playing cards. I have many, many fond memories. This is very sad!
I don’t know where everyone is now – but I remember how much he loved Todd and Lisa. Marilyn, like my own wife, was a Hoban graduate and we used to tease the wives about being “one of those Hoban girls”. Yogi was the only cop who called my wife by her nickname “skeeter” and they got along really well.
My sympathies to his family and of course his long time friend Dave Slyman.
I am sorry to hear of Yogi’s passing.
