Shanna Dee Gonter Lunceford, 59, of Springfield, Georgia died April 2, 2024 from
complications following brain surgery. Her loss was completely unexpectedly, and
our family is profoundly saddened. As Shanna took her last breath, her children
Greg and Jennifer (Jae), and her sister Amy were with her. There were also
multiple family members present through a video call to bid her farewell.
Shanna was born November 13, 1964 to Jim and Dee Gonter in Fillmore, Utah.
She was the fourth of seven children. She was blessed with two children, Greg
and Jennifer. Her babies called her Nana. She had 5 grandchildren: Brandon,
Jordan, Evan, Ava and Tori. She also claimed her 11 nieces, 9 nephews, 17 great
nieces, 15 great nephews and 1 great grandnephew as her own.

Shanna was an exceptionally hard worker. Throughout her life she worked many
customer service jobs, always rising to the top as a preceptor. She believed that
any job done, should be done to the best of your ability. She was a shining
example of integrity.

She served in the US Army National Guard and was a Veteran of Desert Storm.
She earned her Sharpshooter badge and was awarded the Bronze Service star.
She enjoyed anything that got her outdoors including fishing, camping, and
gardening. She mostly enjoyed pulling weeds as it was therapeutic for her.
Neighbors grew use to seeing Shanna in their yards picking their weeds too!
She will be remembered for all the love she shared with her friends and family.
She truly loved each of them and they knew it!

She was preceded in death by her father Harvey (Jim) Gonter, sister Cindy VanNoy
and her brothers Eric and Douglas Gonter. She is survived by her mother Dee
Gonter Jacobson, her children Greg Lunceford (Kim) and Jennifer (Jae) Tidestrand
(Nick), brother Shawn Gonter (Jewel) and sisters Catherine Lamb (Trent) and Amy
Gonter Carnes (Brian).

Heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at Memorial Health University Heart and
Vascular Center, Neuro Intensive Care Unit in Savannah Georgia. The care given to
Shanna was phenomenal, as was the empathy shown to our family!
Memorial service will be held June 15 th , 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints, 114 S. 400 W. Orem, Utah.

Condolences for the family of “Shanna Dee Lunceford”

Condolence from Teresa Ingersoll Ayers on April 9th, 2024 10:48 am

So sorry for your loss. Prayers for Shannas family.
Memories: Shanna is my cousin
In the late 70’s Shanna came to Ohio to visit her grandma and grandpa Gonter and she got to spend the night with me on our little rural farm. We took sheets. blankets, pillows and took bales of hay and made a bed in the barn and we slept in the barn. Shanna also got to go to the Ohio State Fair with my parents Don and Sandy Ingersoll, my oldest sister Roberta (Bobbi), our neighbor Kenny Bauer who drove us to Columbus Ohio to the Ohio State Fair. The reason for going was won at our county fair in 4H with a stand I made for my woodworking project and got to go to State Fair with it. We got to ride rides while we were there.

In the 70’s my parents took us to Yuma. Arizona to vist my Uncle Jim and Aunt Dee’s, I went swimming in the pool on base with Shanna, they took us to Mexico and swimming at a dam and I played with Shanna.

Oh, Shanna, you will be so missed. Shanna is my cousin on my dad’s side. She and I were quite close as young girls, and spend many hours laughing together. I looked forward to family reunions so that I could see Shanna Dee. She had the kindest heart, and loved her family so much. She was even interested in my own family and wanted to know all about my children, often texting to ask about them and ask for pictures. She was a bright spot in all our lives, and even though we grew apart later in our lives, I am very sad she is gone. My love to her children and family.
