Mr. William Eugene Patterson III, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Middlesboro, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018, at the age of 61.
William was born to parents Alberta Bell Patterson and William J Patterson on September 12, 1956. He is preceded in death by his parents and step father, Luther Robertson. Surviving siblings; Patti Johnson Patterson, Patrice Patterson, Tomika Patterson, Floyd Patterson, Charles Patterson, Curtis Patterson (Samantha), Darly Patterson, Michael Patterson, Patrick Clarence Spivey & Todd Robertson. The family wishes to acknowledge his close relationship with his niece Diamond Johnson, nephew Carl Patterson, Aunts; Linda Johnson, Brenda Johnson, uncles Ronnie Johnson, James Patterson, Robert Bell & classmate Donnie Cornett. William is survived by his wife and lifelong companion, Armintha and Marilyn, children; Tammy Kelly (Ricky), Renell Moore, Shantel Johnson (Willie), Niyetsha Mayo, William J. Patterson, Dwan Smith, Christopher Patterson (Krystal), grandchildren; Kyla Patterson, Kamaya Patterson, Adeja Kelly, Rickey B. Kelly, Nasha Howard, Jamison Johnson, Leisha Johnson, Array Culmer, Mya Moore, Tristian Herndon, Kymoni Bradford, Emoni Bradford, Brian Moorehead Jr. & greatgrandchildren; Jordyn Kelly & Jalayah Hymon.
William was a veteran of the United States Army. He graduated with honors from Florida Metropolitan University with a degree in Criminal Justice. William loved his children. During the course of raising them he started using different techniques to teach each child. He spent hours videotaping the children and trying different teaching styles to help his children through school. He had a passion for learning, continuous self-improvement. He spent the last fifteen years as a Duval County School Board, Paraprofessional specializing in assisting Autistic children.
When William was younger he loved playing basketball. He was a Coach of the Chimney Lakes Girls Basket Team for several years. During the later years of his life, he loved to play cards, fish, crab, bowl, and cook for his family. He had a quirky sense of humor and was a trivia buff. He was always available for neighbor(s), his family and his close friends. Always willing to listen without judgement and lend a helping hand. A Good Samaritan to say the least, about William E. Patterson III. He will be missed dearly.

Family and Friends are invited to attend William’s Memorial Reception which will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 between the hours of 1 and 3:30 PM in the Parish Hall of Saint Paul Catholic Church located at 2609 Park St, Jacksonville, FL 32204. The family is grateful for the many condolences.
