Anthony Wayne Howell died Tuesday, March 5. He was 61.
Born March 11, 1962 in Lexington, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Charles E. Howell and Louise Young.
His adored stepfather, the late Walter D. Young, also raised him. Survivors include his beloved partner of forty years, Michael A. Pacheco; a sister, Theresa Slone, and two stepbrothers, Ronnie Newby and Kevin Young, a niece and several grand nieces and nephews, all of Lexington.
He supervised the Visit Savannah welcome center on River Street for 18 years, greeting thousands of tourists. His green thumb in the garden and his cheerful mischievousness endeared him to all who knew him.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Lexington, Kentucky and Savannah.

Wayne you were the life of every party you attended. You made us laugh till we cried. It was a pleasure knowing you. We will miss you.
I just heard of your passing today and it broke my heart. I enjoyed being your āfavorite nurseā and caring for you. I loved sharing our stories and laughing. And when I moved back home to Nebraska, you were still in my heart and in my mind. Sending my thoughts and prayers to Michael, and all your family and friends who loved and adored you!
