Mary Elizabeth Bowman Hartnett

Beth departed this life on August 27, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was born on October 15, 1947 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in downtown Savannah during the Cape Sable Hurricane. The first of five siblings, Beth was a seventh generation Savannahian.

She graduated from Robert W. Groves High School, Class of 1966 and entered the United States Marine Corps at Parris Island, South Carolina. Beth was a devoted wife and mother. She had a knack for gardening and loved to see her beautiful azaleas bloom in Spring., She also raised Scottish Terriers whom she cared for dearly.

She is preceded in death by her son, Michael Dean Troncin; an uncle, George Ulmer Sr.; an aunt, Pauline Ulmer Evans, stepfather Bill Williams, and parents-in-law Joseph & Maude Hartnett.

She is survived by her husband of thirty years, Richard Hartnett formerly of Charleston, South Carolina; mother, Mildred Ulmer Williams of Savannah; daughter, Michelle C. Troncin (Kenny) of Blythe, California; daughter, Megan M. Valentine (Garrett) of Savannah; stepson, Richard Hartnett (Dana) of Charleston, South Carolina; stepson Chip Hartnett (Melanie) of McClellanville, South Carolina. She is also survived by her granddaughter Kelley Elizabeth; step grandson Joseph, and step granddaughters Miranda & Chloe; siblings Vickie McGraw Groves of Richmond Hill, Georgia; Michael McGraw of Poinciana, Florida, Ellen McGraw of Savannah, and Sandi McGraw Correia of Hollywood, Florida; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
