Michael Anthony Johnson “Chez”

Michael Anthony Johnson (Chez) was born April 12, 1965 and died on July 10, 2015 in Savannah Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thelma Ann Johnson and John Henry Dukes. Michael grew up in Savannah, where he became affectionately known as “Chez.”  A graduate of Richard Arnold High School, Michael excelled in carpentry and other creative artistries, such as drawing, sketching and painting.   He was a self- employed Carpenter for some 30 years, whose gifted craftsmanship was admired by many all over the country.

Michael was a free spirited, people’s person; whose laughter was infectious and a smile that could warm a million hearts.  Michael loved life and enjoyed spending time with family, skating, fishing, dancing, dressing sharp and the martial arts. Michael with his large heartedness and generosity towards people in need, lived up to the movie character (Caezare) from whom he took his nickname.

Survivors:  Michael leaves to cherish his memory, three precious Daughters, Senchez Blades, Kaycee Johnson, Parker Johnson, and a very special daughter, Aliah Lewis of Savannah GA: two fine sons, Michael Johnson, Jr., of California and Freddie Gardner of Brooklyn, NY; his dearly beloved Grandmother, Essie Mae Johnson-Jefferson; a loving aunt, Ella Mae Mikell; two cherished sisters, Lori Riddle (Reuben) and Angel Pinkston (Sammie), of Savannah GA; one devoted brother Leonard Dukes, of Atlanta GA, a special cousin, Kimberly Mikell and four precious grand- children along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins,  other relatives and friends.

My sincere condolences to your family for your loss. In 1999, Michael Johnson led me to Christ in the county jail. I am grateful to God for the opportunity to have met him.
