Nathaniel B. Norris Jr., affectionately known as “Icky”, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022. Nathaniel Norris was born November 5, 1955 to the late Nathaniel B. Norris Sr. and Lois Vivian Norris. He was the eldest brother. One sibling, Msgt Jerry G. Norris Sr., preceded him in death.
Nathaniel was educated in the Chatham County Public School System where he attended Savannah High School and transitioned to the US Marine Corp to answer the call to Vietnam.
Nathaniel returned after military life and realized that a standard job was not his calling. He decided to pursue roofing and construction work as an independent contractor.
In 1999 Nathaniel met Ivy Hamilton and on February 7, 2000, they were married. In 2003 Nathaniel started his own business and became an employer to others. He was stable in this field until his health deteriorated.
His favorite past time was spending time with his 8 grandchildren and his godson, Lil Nathaniel, and laughing at Tik Tok videos.
He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Mrs. Ivy H. Norris; two loving daughters, Shandra Oliver and Stephanie O. Roundtree (Lamar); three brothers, Gregg V. Norris Sr. (Wanda), Sheldon K. Norris Sr. (Cassandra), Mark D. Norris Sr; six sisters, Ms. Elaine Tufts Broxton, Ms. Evelyn M. Tufts, Mrs. Rachel Norris Singleton (Anthony), Mrs. Penny Norris Austin (Harry), Ms. Karen Norris Porter, and Ms. Yasmin Norris; one step-sister, Ms. Deborah Demps; three step-brothers, Fred H. Demps (Henrietta), Alfred “Lashah” Demps, and Troy Demps; eight grandchildren; two aunts, Gladys Mitchell (Tommie) and Dr. Annie Dean Cannon; one uncle, Marion Norris; several cousins; his mother-in-love, Sister Rosetta Hamilton; one sister-in-love, Dr. Margelet Hamilton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
