My wife and I met Mr. Chirbas in 1970 at Hunter AAF. We worked together in Awards and decorations. As a draftee money was always tight. Jim and Suzy would invite us to their home on talehi island where after many games of ping pong we were always well fed. I was always amazed by the amount of energy he had as he pursued one artistic endeavor after another. I am fortunate to have one of his paintings at my home. Jim was always kind and always smiling and always willing to talk about his appearance in ROOTS. Over the years we were able to stay in contact.
