Jim Spies, age 82, died April 22, 2021.
He was born and raised in Albany, Georgia. He is survived by his wife, DaNell Moore, son, James (Bubba) Spies, Jr., daughter, Kim Spies, Kathie Spies (deceased) and Deborah Wheelock (husband Jeff), three granddaughters Jessica Simons, Julie Viana and Jennifer Spies and four great grandchildren. Siblings include brother Art Spies, and sisters Patricia Dean and Betty Bultman (deceased). Step children include Deborah Bruce (husband Charlie) and Daphne Wells (husband Mike) and grandchildren Haley Bruce, and Holden, Dawson, and Emersyn Wells.
Upon graduation from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Jim began a career in banking and real estate lending. Having finished 20 years in banking which including serving as a senior vice president for the First Georgia Bank in Atlanta, he subsequently enjoyed a second career in commercial real estate brokerage. In 1998, he founded his own company, First City Properties, LLC which he owned until 2019. He was a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and served as a past director and president of the Realtor’s Commercial Alliance. Previously, he was a member of Isle of Hope United Methodist Church.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
