Juanita H. McClendon, 71, of Savannah, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Riverview Nursing & Rehab.
Juanita loved crafting, sewing, quilting, and growing and learning about different types of plants. She loved the history of Savannah and the surrounding areas. She was an avid genealogist, and lived a life rooted in tradition. She will be remembered for the stories she shared and the lessons she taught.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Peeples Hargroves and Charles Robert Huncke and two sisters, Amanda Abbott and Kathy Huncke.
Juanita is survived by her four children, Melissa Barton, Tammy West, April Heddleson (Justin), and Charles McClendon; grandchildren, Rachel, Nicole, Ariel, Nicholas, Caden, Kaylin, Quinn, and Paige; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Dasher, Elizabeth Cole (Mark), Betty Pittman (Joey); a brother, Edward Hargroves; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Families First Funeral Care in Savannah. The family will receive friends following the service at Morning Star Community Church in Faulkville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Juanita’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
