Leona Lee Benes, 60, of Richmond Hill passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice.
The Wayne County native attended New Life Church in Richmond Hill. She worked numerous jobs throughout the years from Gene’s Starter and Generator to sewing at Ashely Manufacturing, but she cherished the time working with kids the most. She was a loving Mother, Wife, Sister, Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin and friend. She enjoyed her church, camping, sewing and spending time with her Grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her Mother Nancy Strickland and her Grandparents Ella and Edward Fultz.
Survivors are her husband of 20 years Stephen Benes of Richmond Hill; Sons Rex (Jenna) Lewis, David (Ryan) Lewis and Silas (Rebecca) Lewis; Daughters Nancy (Spencer) Davis, Faith (Taylor) Thornton and Brenda (Kyle) Alewine; Step daughters Laura (Matt) Rodgers, Dara Benes and Tamar Benes; Eighteen Grandchildren and Two Great Grandchildren; Sister Ella (Mike) Hodges; Brother Ray Strickland; Numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and other extended family
Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 2, at 2 pm at New Life Church in Richmond Hill with Pastor Ryan Ogden officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Life Church of Richmond Hill.
