Mary Dewberry Brooks entered into eternal rest on August 2, 2014. She was 76.
She was born in Uvalda Georgia and was the daughter of Elmore and Lessie Lumley. She was a graduate of Montgomery County High School and attended Armstrong College. She worked with WTOC television and finished her career as a CPA after 40 years with Hancock & Askew Co.
She was an avid reader, boater, fisher, and food critic. She was a great mother, friend to all, and loved by many. We have lost a dear friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Everette Adams, daughter, Lacy Anita Boaen, and husband Robert Brooks. She is survived by son, James Dewberry of Taiwan, daughter, Alice Dewberry Werntz of Savannah, grandchildren, Emily Dewberry, Gil Werntz, Clay Werntz, sisters, Kathleen Cowart, Ann Vause, nieces, Joanna Velez, Garlana Mathews, Pam Conner, nephews, Ken Parker, Kim Parker, Tommy Humphrey, special grand nephews, Hunter Mathews, Brendan Mathews and many close friends.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 6:30pm Friday Woodlawn Baptist Church, 407 Talmadge Ave. Garden City, and 12pm Saturday at Charlotte United Methodist Church Uvalda followed by covered dish lunch.
