Print This Obituary & CondolencesZelda Poteat-Scott passed away in Savannah, Ga at the age of 69. She was born in Philadelphia, PA to John Poteat & Wanita Porter on January 8th, 1954. She graduated from South Philadelphia High School in 1972 she then obtained her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education.
Zelda was such a beautiful and fun loving person. She was very talented in everything she did, sewing, knitting, crafting, cooking, decorating, baking, and just caring for people that needed help. She volunteered with Meals Of Hope feeding the homeless. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church of Norristown, PA.
Zelda is survived by her children, Tanisha Decosta, Ky’heem Akridge, Shauna Blount, Markketta Thomason (Paul Woods) & Samantha Poteat.
She was preceded in death by her parents John & Wanita, husband George Scott, daughter Terri Glenn and her granddaughter Sabrina Glenn-Poteat.
She leaves her 4 children, 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grands, 2 brothers and 7 sisters, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Her wonderful smile and energetic spirit will truly be missed.

Print This Obituary & CondolencesEugene Lawrence, age 89, Garden City, GA, went to his heavenly home during the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
Known by his family and friends as Gene, he was born in Stillmore, GA where he spent most of his early life. He joined the US Army and served in the Korean War. He was a member of Dean Forest Baptist Church where he attended until his health began to deteriorate and a member of Frank F. Baker Masonic Lodge #46 of Garden City, GA. He was also a truck driver until his retirement. He loved to hunt and fish, but more than anything he loved spending time with his family.
Gene is survived by this wife of 65 years, Theresa Arennetta Lawrence of Garden City, 4 of his children, Laurie Jadrych (Jerry) of Bloomingdale, Tony Lawrence of Savannah, Shari Fitton (Steve) of Hinesville, GA, and Karen Shuman of Garden City, GA, his Daughter in Law, Margaret Ann Lawrence of Evans, GA, 11 Grand Children, 14 Great-Grand Children, 4 Great Great-Grand Children, as well as several Step-Grandchild and Step Great Grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is proceeded in death by his oldest son, Garry Lawrence of Evans, GA, Daughter in Law Dorinda Lawrence of Savannah, his mother Lucile Slater Oglesby of Stillmore, his father Hudson Lawrence, Sr of West Palm Beach, FL, and his brother Hudson Lawrence, Jr. of Stillmore, Ga.
Memorial Services will be at Dean Forest Baptist Church in Garden City, GA at 11:00am Monday, November 20, 2023, with burial at Stillmore Cemetery in Stillmore, GA.
