Samuel Edward Somers (Ed to his Friends & Family), 69, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2023, in Savannah, Georgia. He is survived by his loving children; Son, Sam Somers (Dori); Daughter, Lauren Somers (Steven Croy); Grandchildren, John Glasco; Brittany Weber; Justin Croy; Brandon Croy; Great Grandchild, Mya Weber; Sisters Christine Somers (Marty Goldenberg); Julia Richardson (Javon), and numerous Cousins, Nieces, & Nephews who cherished him dearly.
Ed was born in Burlington, North Carolina, and spent his early years in Jacksonville, Florida. Growing up in Arlington, he attended Terry Parker High School, where he made lasting memories and friendships that would endure a lifetime.
Ed was a long-time truck driver, and he had an immense passion for his job. His enthusiasm for the open road was matched only by his ability to connect with people everywhere he went. He truly never met a stranger, and his warm smile and friendly demeanor touched the hearts of those he encountered during his travels.
During his time in Jax, Ed was a member of the Arlington United Methodist Church where he attended with his late Mother Ruth Somers.
In later years, Ed moved to Savannah, Georgia, to live with his beloved son and daughter-in-law. Despite the change in scenery, his love for family and life remained unwavering.
Ed will be remembered as a loving father, a dedicated truck driver, a friend to all, and a faithful servant of God. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family will be holding a private service to celebrate his life, details will be available at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ed’s name to the American Lung Association.
