Wally was a card playing friend and a fellow Savannah Banana fan. Very sad to hear at tonight’s game that he had passed away. Our group of season ticket holders was wondering where he was when we didn’t see him in his usual seat. Wally will be missed. Hugs and prayers for his family and friends.
Hello,
I knew Wally through our work at Western State Hospital. We had planned our retirements together. When he retired, he moved to Savannah first, and we moved here the following year. George and Wally played golf together in Hopkinsville, KY, and both enjoyed the baseball games here in Savannah.
Wally, I hope you and George are catching up on lost time.
I will miss you!
Rest in peace my friend!

I would like someone from Wally’s family to contact me at their convenience.
I have some information that they may need.
Thank you Lori
I worked wit Wally at Wedtern State Hospital. He was a kind and thoughtful man. He had many friends. I am so glad he had a great retirement in Savannah!
Dear Murphy Family & close Friends,
I am so saddened to learn of Wally’s passing. I sat with & near him in Section E at both Sand Gnat & Banana games, even before I moved to SAV….
He was a delightful gentleman, beloved by everyone around him, and knew his baseball!!!
The last time we spoke was about a year & half ago – he was looking for a new apt, as where he lived had raised rents to some ridiculous level.
I did not know of his passing until baseball’s opening week. I checked the newspaper, and contacted FFF&C (after reading the ‘Arrangements later’ phrase on the notice) to inquire about services, but apparently privacy has been requested.
Murphy Family, or other Loved Ones, is it possible to post, or email, further info on any memorial service, resting place, &/or his final days at The Oaks, maybe a bio, or charity we can give a memorial donation to…?
Many friends would be so appreciative.
I send heartfelt condolences to the Family, and all who knew & loved Wally.
Rest easy Wally, and know we miss you already –
