Mary Lyn Franks (Quigley) age 75, passed away, suddenly on March 15, 2024, in Savannah, GA. Born the eldest of five children on January 14, 1949, in Paterson, NJ. Lyn lived each day with a life marked by joy, creativity, beauty, a larger than life presence, and most of all love for her family and friends.
Lyn leaves behind her loving family; daughters Jamie Pear and Jessica Franks; grandchildren Samantha Pear, Tyler Pear, and Lexi Harris; son-in-law Lorin Harris; sisters Margaret Thoma and Maureen Quigley; brother Kevin Quigley; and her devoted boyfriend, John Resler. She is also remembered and loved by cousins, friends, nieces and nephews who shared in her life’s journey, including best friends Diane, Denise, and Carla. Lyn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles “Puck” Quigley and Myrtle Quigley, her brother Charlie Quigley, son-in-law Jonathan Pear, and dear friends Marjorie and Candi.
A proud graduate of Wayne Valley High School class of 1966, Lyn’s professional life included a significant tenure with the office of acclaimed architect Kevin Roche, where her contributions were both valued and celebrated. She also wrote an advice column for the publication Office Hours titled “Ask Lynzee”. Beyond her professional achievements, Lyn was a true artist, bringing beauty and insight to the world around her. She had an eye for all things fashion, interior design, and art. Not only will we remember her professional and artistic contributions, but her daughters, grandchildren, siblings, and friends will continue to live with just an ounce of her tenacity and zest for life. Lyn is a 25+ year breast cancer survivor, where she inspired those around her and shared the importance of perseverance. In addition to sharing her strength, Lyn brought warmth, humor, and love to her friends and family. She sang and danced with her granddaughters, cooked with her siblings, and created a club with her grammar school best friends where they traveled the US as “doctors” meeting at their “conferences” filled with laughs and unforgettable memories.
A remembrance service to celebrate Lyn’s life will be held on Hilton Head Island, SC for her local family there and in Connecticut during the summer where we can honor her love of sunshine and the beach. Those who knew Lyn are invited to join in honoring her memory – details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Lyn’s memory to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org
