
Daniel Winfield Blitch – March, 4, 1944 – May 9, 2026 (82)
Daniel “Danny” Blitch, beloved husband, father, and brother, died on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Savannah, GA. Born on March 4, 1944, to George Austin Blitch and Sue Nell Yeomans, Danny grew up in the Coastal Empire he loved deeply.
A graduate of Savannah High School, he attended Brewton-Parker College and later graduated from the University of Georgia, where he met the love of his life, Patricia Anne Winn. Their first date was a UGA Football game. They married in 1968 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint John the Baptist, and built a devoted, joyful life together. Danny worked in sales with Power Hydraulics of Savannah, Semco, Inc., and later retired from Custom Construction Home Services. Served as President of the Savannah Jaycees and as a Troop 88 Leader for the Boy Scouts of America at St. James Parish.
Danny is survived by his wife Patricia Winn Blitch; his twin brother, David Austin Blitch (Bettie Anne); his sister, Marie Blitch Conley; his sons, Daniel W. Blitch II (Cynthia) and Steven C. Blitch (Jennifer); his grandchildren Madisson, Zack, and Taylor; as well as many extended family members.
He loved his family, his friends, the Georgia Bulldogs – Go DAWGS!, the City of Savannah, and nighttime strolls combing the beach at Tybee Island. His generous spirit, quick humor, and big heart touched everyone who knew him and he will be deeply missed.
The visitation and celebration of life will be held at Families First Funeral Care & Cremation Center, 1328 Dean Forest Road, Savannah, Georgia on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 1pm.
