Mrs. Elke Long, 88, passed away peacefully at Magnolia Manor on April 28, 2026. She was born March 29, 1938 in Germany. She was a longtime resident of Midway, Georgia.

Mrs. Long worked as a seamstress at Chatham Dress Sewing Factory, material handler at Solomon’s Drug Warehouse, and a stock clerk at Kroger. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her neighbors. She also enjoyed being a dog mom, spending all the time she could with her animals.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Sheppard. Survivors include her children, Ronnie (Dee) Sheppard, Sissy (Neal) Hall, and Lynn (Ken) Morgan; nine grandchildren, Joseph, James, Michael, Ashley, Kristy, Brittany, Brianne, Chase, and Catie; and numerous great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the caregivers at Magnolia Manor in Midway, Georgia.

Luvinia was born in Salem-Winston, North Carolina, to the late Richard Williams and Alice Louise Foster. She retired from Savannah State University as a dorm security officer.

She is proceeded in death by a son and sister.

She is survived by her six children, 20 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, a brother, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Kerry Edgar Weilbaecher Sr., 80, peacefully passed away at home in the early morning of April 22, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Kerry was born on November 6, 1945 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Audrey and James Weilbaecher.

Kerry was a Franchise owner of Popeyes for more than forty years of his life in the Savannah area. He was a true Patriot and a friend of Bill W who greatly enjoyed his family, friends, boating, fishing, and the gun club. He was an avid animal lover and car enthusiast. His kindness, love and generosity were his trademark. Kerry always had a bright smile on his face and made consistent efforts to help others, which left a lasting legacy of compassion on those who knew
him.

Kerry was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and James Weilbaecher as well as his brother, Wayne Weilbaecher.

Kerry is survived by Jennifer Young, Andrew and Riley Young, Michael Weilbaecher (Annette), David Weilbaecher (Haley), Wendi Bonck Weilbaecher (Rene), Kerry Weilbaecher, Jr., his older
brother, James Weilbaecher (Thea), and numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A mass and rosary will be given on May 14, 2026 at 10:00 AM located at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Tybee Island, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Humane Society for Greater Savannah or Hospice Savannah.

Kerry will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and adored him.

Mary Helen Sessum Hawkins went to her heavenly resting place on Saturday, April 25 2026, while in the comfort of her home in Savannah, GA.

Mary was born in Vivian, LA on September 14, 1947. She was a 33 year employee of Lucent Technologies. After retiring, she and her husband moved to Savannah to be close to their son and family.

Mary and Jerry were avid round dancers, but what she was best known for was her love of sewing and quilting. To say she was a master of her craft is an understatement. She always made sure every stitch was perfect and sewn with love. She loved teaching classes and sharing her knowledge and skills with others.

She developed many close friendships with the ladies in her sewing community, and with her church family at the Sanctuary of Savannah. She always spoke so fondly of her friends, and appreciated the calls and visits as her health declined.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jerry Sr; her parents, Robert and Lavern Sessum; one brother, Bobby Sesum; and one sister, Joyce McGee.

Mary is survived by her son and daughter in law, Jerry and Kelly Hawkins of Rocky Ford, GA; two grandsons, Thaddaus (Dawn) Deppen and Jordan Hawkins; three great-granddaughters Remy, Daliya, and Hazelee Deppen, and one sister Judy Inman.

Per Mary’s request, the family will hold a private memorial service at a later date to honor her. We appreciate all of the cards, calls, and messages, and ask that you continue to keep the family in your prayers.
