Born April 18, 1959 to the late Shirley Jean Butler and late William Beets Carol attended the public school system of Chatham County.

Carol was affectionately known as “Shorty Long”, she was known as the life of the party and party is what she did. Carol worked as a CNA in her professional life. Carol was loved by all that she came in contact with.

Carol had two sons: Ishmil and Usef.

Carol entered into eternal rest on May 17, 2026 due to a long term illness.

Carol leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Ishmil Butler and Usef Butler, her only granddaughter Ah’milla Gordon, three grandsons, Ishmil Butler, Jr., Elias Butler, and Usef Butler, Jr., her sisters, Carlis Butler, and Cheryl Peters (Carey) Battle, brothers, Christopher Butler, and Karriem Butler, nieces, Naimah (David) Faison, Marisha, Talona, Ebonie, Shaniah, Nakiema, and Karizma, nephews, Gregory, Tevin, and Karriem, as well as a host of cousins and friends.

Sadie Mae Jones entered eternal rest on May 20, 2026 at 1:56pm. She was born on March 31, 1936, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Nancy Ladson Jones and Paul Jones, Sr.
She was educated in the Chatham County Public School System. Upon graduation, Sadie began her professional culinary career with The Exchange Tavern, where she worked for over 40 years until her retirement. In addition to her career, she was actively involved in operating the family business for many years, contributing her time, dedication, and strong work ethic.
Sadie was a woman of strength, conviction and deep faith. She was known for her straightforward nature, her wisdom, and her unwavering love for her family. She carried herself with dignity and confidence, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nancy Ladson Jones and Paul Jones, Sr.; her son, Ronnie Jones. her sisters, Annie Ladson Rivers, Evelyn Jones-Dwamena, Ethel jones Harris,Lula Mae Jones; her brothers, Paul Jones, Jr. and Nathaniel Jones;
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted son, Rodney Jones of Savannah, GA; her niece and daughter in love Natasha Dwamena (Dominyck Sr) of Newport News, VA; her grandchildren, Raneesha Jones, Kalia Campbell, and Zayontray Jones, all of Savannah, GA; her sister-in-law, Joanne Jones of Savannah, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, great-grand-nieces, and nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
Though she has taken her rest, the strength she embodied, the love she gave, and the legacy she built will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her life was a testament to grace, resilience, and unwavering devotion—an enduring light that will never fade.

Vera Holt

August 9, 1941- May 25, 2026

Vera L. Holt, 84, of Guyton, GA died peacefully at Pineview Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady R. Holt, son, Charlie Holt, and a daughter, Sherry Stembridge.

She is survived by her son, Ricky Holt (Carol), daughter, Janice Howell (Hollis), daughter, Mary Stembridge (Johnny), and son Jamie Holt (Sandy). As well as, numerous grandchildren and great grands.

As per family wishes, there will be no service or memorial at this time.

Richard passed away on May 19 at the age of 61.

He was born in Ferriby, England, but arrived in New York one day before his first birthday. He learned to walk on the ship during the journey to the states. He lived in E Northport, NY until the age of ten when his family moved to Savannah. He graduated from Windsor Forest High School in 1983. He worked for many years in restaurants and liquor store management. Most recently, he worked for Airframe Component Repair with an amazing group of people.

Richard is survived by three sisters, Deborah (Chuck) Fish, Alison Stafford and Ginny (Russell) Tuten, three nieces, Katie (Jeff) Sorrells, Chelsea (Charlie) Hamann and Caroline Berry, three nephews, William Berry, Nicholas Tuten and Benjamin Tuten, and several great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 29 from 3-5 at Families First Funeral Care & Cremation Center, 1328 Dean Forest Road, Savannah, Georgia 31405.

William Larry Stroud, 78, of Guyton, Georgia, died peacefully at Hospice of Savannah on May 22, 2026.

He was survived by his wife Donna of 49 years; children, Cynthia Lampp and Kevin Stroud; two grandchildren, Zachary, Jonathan (Dean); one great-grandson, Hunter; and his brother, Ted (Becky) Stroud.

He was a big guy with a lot to teach and give. He really enjoyed riding horses and being a part of The Mounted Patrol group. If he saw a dog in need he took it home. He truly loved his dogs.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2026 at Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 11 Trout Trail, Swainsboro, Georgia
