James Thomas Hart, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at the age of 85.

Born in Savannah, Georgia, on March 3, 1940, James led a life full of adventure, anchored by his deep love for his family and his steadfast dedication to his work.

James proudly served in the Georgia National Guard and Navy Reserves.

Affectionately known to many as Jim, he spent his early years along the banks of the Savannah River. His career began with the Atlantic Towing Company. He then trained to become an Engineer for the Seaboard Railroad. After getting his Marine License he Left the railroad to move to Houston, Texas to work as a tugboat Captain on the Houston River. After retiring from his seafaring adventures, James shifted from the helm to the business world, operating a pawn shop in Atlanta, GA, and later partnering in another venture in his beloved Savannah. An avid lover of the water, James also owned an offshore charter boat. In his spare time, he enjoyed shooting skeet.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Marion “ Ted” Augustus Hart and Elise Hart, and his brother, Robert Hart, who all greeted him at the gates of heaven.

Cherished by his family, James is survived by his devoted wife, Haroldeen McElveen Hart, who stood by his side through all of life’s tides. He leaves behind a legacy in his sons, Greg Hart (Donna) and Jeffery Hart (Tami), and his treasured grandchildren, Emily Hart and Evan Hart. James’ memory will also be carried on by his sister, Mary McDaniel, and several nieces and nephews.

James’ rich tapestry of life is celebrated by all who knew him, his story a testament to the enduring spirit of adventure and love. As arrangements are handled by Families First Funeral Care & Cremation Center, his family takes solace in the memories of James’ infectious laughter, unwavering kindness, and the warmth he brought into their lives.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Savannah Hospice.

A memorial service will be held at Montgomery Presbyterian Church on Ferguson Ave at a later date.

Virginia Ruth Barrett “Ginger” Jarvis, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 13 at the age of 82.

Born in Bainbridge, Ga to the late Rev J. Paul and Clara Barrett, she was preceded in death by her brother, the Rev Joel Paul Barrett.

Ginger is survived by her son, Donald Lewis Jarvis (Bonnie), and foster daughter Mary Callaway (Larry), as well as her brothers the Rev Mira Barrett (Donnie) and the Rev John Barrett (Jule), her sister Susan Dunn (Buddy) and her sister-in-law Pat Barrett and a great many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Though born in Georgia, Ginger attended college at Asbury University and married a Methodist Pastor, the late Rev Michael Jarvis. She moved with him to various churches and charges in Georgia, until they divorced amicably after twenty-five years. In her capacity as a preachers’ wife she contributed her time, effort, organizational and teaching skills and considerable talents as a pianist wherever she went. She worked as a teacher, and a reporter for local newspapers in Effingham County in Georgia and in Madison County in Florida. She was a foster parent to more than 15 children in their time of need.

The memorial service for Virginia Jarvis will be held on March 29, 2025 at 10:30AM at Grace Church of Savannah, 6412 Waters Ave, Savannah, Ga. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 9:30AM until the time of the service at Grace Church.

Virginia “Ginger” Waldrop, 72, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025.

Virginia was the daughter of William “Bill” and Jimmie Waldrop.

Virginia was preceded in death by, husband Thomas Barnes; parents, William and Jimmie Waldrop; uncle Taz Harden.

She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend, with a deep passion for life. Ginger had a special love for the beach, often found soaking up the sun and enjoying the beauty of the ocean. Her warm spirit and love for entertaining brought joy to many, and she cherished spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her sister, Jeralyn Waldrop Wilson, brother-in-law, Richard Wilson. Ginger also leaves behind her niece, Krista Futch; nephew, Kevin Wilson; great nieces and nephews, Harper and J.R. Futch; aunt, Linda De Young; and cousin, Jeana Cobb.

A private service will be held at a later date. Ginger’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Richard Arlan Kyall Sr., 89, passed away on March 12, 2025, peacefully surrounded by family.

Born to Wilbur H. Kyall and Gracie Mae Kyall, Richard led a life filled with faith, service, and love.

A proud veteran, Richard served in the United States Air Force National Security, demonstrating a strong sense of duty to his country. He later pursued a fulfilling career as an electrician, retiring from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Richard was a man of deep faith who cherished reading his Bible and attending church, which were central to his life. He found great joy in spending time with his family and was passionate about traveling with his loved ones. Richard is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Carolyn Elizabeth Kyall; two brothers; and one sister.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Sandra K. Kyall; daughters, Jacqueline E. Rice and Pamela K. Lamb (Alan); son, Richard Arlan Kyall II (Amy); two bonus children, Gina Campbell (Scott) and Tracy Hart; and a wonderful group of grandchildren: Amanda (Kevin), Jessica (Daniel), Brittany (Dusty), Tony (Karla), and Chris (Tiffany). Additionally, he is survived by two bonus grandchildren, Braden and McKinley, as well as seven great-grandchildren: Caden, Sophia, Jade, Makenna, Caroline, Peyton, and Katie.

The family is holding a Memorial Service Saturday March 15, 11:30am at Faulkville Baptist Church, 144 Zeigler Road, Bloomingdale, GA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or Faulkville Baptist Church, organizations that were dear to Richard’s heart.
He will be greatly missed, but his legacy of faith, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
