Print This Obituary & CondolencesCarolyn Gail Lucas, 83, passed away November 20, 2023, at Hospice Savannah. She was born in Savannah, GA on Christmas Day in 1939. What a glorious day to enter this world!
She retired from Gould Elementary School where she worked for many years as a Media Clerk. Gail loved spending time with her family and her sweetheart, George Bird. Her other favorite past times were dancing, watching Heartland (multiple times) & ordering from QVC. She was a member of Silk Hope Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Grace Owen; her husband, Donald Lucas; & son, Lee Lucas. She is survived by her loving sweetheart, George Bird, 2 daughters, Donna Riner (David) & Carol Ann Lucas (Ralph Gargiulo); a granddaughter Shannon Dotti; 2 great-grandsons, Giovanni & Dominick Vasquez; & many nieces & nephews. A Memorial Service to honor her will be held Saturday December 16, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Silk Hope Baptist Church. 4929 Pineland Drive Savannah, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Print This Obituary & CondolencesFriday, the 10th of November 2023 Robert L. Smith, 70 of Wilmington Island, GA passed away peacefully with his son, Chance Alexander by his side after a brief but courageous battle. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert Vernon Smith and Doris Elaine Smith.
Survivors include a sister, Cheryl Smith Fleck, a brother, Glenn Smith, one neice, Sommer Wischmann and three nephews, Wes Christy, Jeff Smith, and Shane Wischmann. Two sons Chance Alexander Smith (Natalie) and Taylor Cole Weaber. A step-grandson, Chase McDonald and two beloved grandchildren Reagan Scarlet, and Nolan Chance Smith.
He had a great sense of humor, was popular everywhere he went and had an outstanding personality. His infectious smile and attitude toward friends and celebrating life was his finest character trait. He was a loyal man. He was known as “Bob”, “Bobby” and “Robby”, a cherished name his Mother pinned in the early years. He had a love for this country and served in the United States Army; A true patriot. A solid ‘seasoner’ fan of NASCAR racing.
Robby’s lifelong career was his expertise in hanging sheetrock, possessing a knowledge and wisdom for the construction business. He was well liked by everyone he met. A loyal and adored Dad, cherished “PopPop” and friend. His life and memory will live on through the stories his friends and family will hold close.

In his youth, John was an accomplished track and field athlete, excelling in both the long and triple jumps. John spent many years as a successful track coach at several area schools, before moving to his treasured home in Tybee Island, GA. John loved playing darts with friends, and was a rabid fan of the Detroit Lions.
John is predeceased by his father Robert. He is survived by his mother, Joan and his siblings Stephen, David (Barbara), Gregory, Christopher (Michael-Anne) and Donna (Michael). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
